Majority of works related with water conservation and water management are handled by the Ministry of Water Resources (MOWR) and Department of Land Resource (MoLR). As more than 50% of MGNREGA works relate to water conservation, the possibilities of convergence between MGNREGA and water conservation and watershed development programmes of MOWR and MoLR will optimize the sustainability of assets created under the programme.
